Beauty Basics: My Summer Skin Care Routine

With Summer in full swing, especially down here in south Florida, skin care has taken a high priority over makeup! Nothing like sweating your makeup off! So for me, I prefer to have a clear base. I have different products for the morning and nighttime, just because my skin has different needs in the morning and at night. I tend to use lighter products in the morning and heavier products at night. But anyways, down below are all of the products I've been using during these hot Summer months to help my skin keep doing it's thing!

Beauty Basics: Spa Day at Home

As much as I would love to go to the spa every week and have a delightful day of relaxation, that just doesn't happen. So I've turned to making my own spa day at home! Every week, typically on a Monday or Tuesday, I take a couple of hours to my self and relax. I do face masks, hair treatments, and all sorts of things to help me relax. So today, I'm going to show you my favorite products for a relaxing spa day at home.

Beauty Army Unboxing: August 2013

My third Beauty Army box! Even though I get to pick out the samples that I want, I always forget what I picked out so it's still a surprise to me when it arrives! Okay, I admit it. Sometime I can go a little crazy in drugstores. Okay, really crazy. I seriously can't help  it. At first I tell myself, "You only need one thing, grab the lipstick and get out!" But then, some many new things catch my eye. And I HAVE to have them. It's a problem. Really, it is. But I'm working on my compulsion to buy makeup. Trying to tone it down a bit. With that being said, here is my haul from the drugstore part of Ulta and my trip to Walmart!

My Skin Care Routine (Updated: New Products!)

My skin has been through a lot over the past few years. I had pretty bad acne when I danced because we were always in stage makeup and, honestly, I was horrible at taking my makeup off. Then going to college, I was beyond stressed and my skin took its toll. Finally, I've found a product that keeps my skin clear and is completely worth it's price. My skin savior is Proactiv. I love this system! From the first time I used it, I could tell that my skin was clearing up. Not only is my skin extremely clear, but my scarring and discoloration is fading. I'm so happy with Proactiv. 

The three piece system is so easy to use! 

These are the three little extras that I like to use! The Green Tea Moisturizer is great when I need just a touch of extra moisture! Normally I need this around my nose or around my lips when they get dry. The Refining Mask is great for shrinking my pores and zapping away any unruly pimples that decide to ruin my life. I love the Planet Spa Soothing Eye Treatment. Although this isn't a Proactiv product, it works great along with it. My eyelids tend to get dry so this product helps keep them smooth and soft!

What's In My Beauty Bag (Summer Edition)

With each passing season, the contents of my beauty bag changes. Different types of weather call for different products! I use a bag that I was given as a present that I absolutely love! All of the products in my beauty bag can be found at your local drugstore. If it's a high-end brand, there's always a cheaper dupe! Check out below what I keep in my beauty bag for summer time!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream, Garnier Skin Renewal Dark Circle Roller, EOS Lip Balm, Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake, Fresh Sugar Lip Balm in Honey, Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze and Benefit Bad Gal Lash  

Lint roller, rewetting drops, contact case with extra contacts, Bath & Body Works Stress Relief hand cream, hand sanitizer, and a little case that holds small medicine like Excedrin. Because I always get headaches.  

Tweezers, Sephora blotting papers, Ice Breakers breath mints, Emergen-C, and a small case that holds "lady time" supplies. 

I like to keep my makeup light and fresh during the summer. It's so hot down here that it's a waster to wear a full face of makeup when I'm just going to sweat it off later. I always have extra contacts with me in case I rip one of them or I want to change out of my glasses. But with that, I always have a pair of glasses with me in case my contacts start bothering me. 

I keep random little things in my beauty bag too because you never know when you're going to need something. And when you don't have, it's exactly when you need it!

Target Beauty and Fashion Haul

Target is one of those stores that you go in for one thing, say hairspray, and you leave with shoes, sunglasses, a new bag, a shower curtain, couch pillows, some snacks, and everything from the dollar section. But we keep going back. Even though we know that the "I only need one thing" line isn't true. Anyways, here is my latest haul, including some beauty and fashion items, from Target!

Basin Haul: All Natural Beauty Products

Recently, my doctor informed that I need to ditch all of my beauty products and switch to an all natural company. First of all, do you realize how shocked I was? I didn't want to throw away all of my favorite products! But after doing some research and having an extensive conversation with my doctor, I knew I had to do it. So how did I do it? Well, anything that was unopened or slightly used, I gave to my friends. (Who doesn't love free stuff?) And for the rest of it? B now uses it. His hair smells like cherry blossoms. 

Two companies that I found before I came across Basin were Dr. Bronner's and Avalon Organics. I found these brands at Target. I smelled every single products that each company had. I didn't care for any of them. And I'm sure both companies are amazing and many people use them, they just weren't for me. My hopes were a little crushed when I remembered that there was a store in Downtown Disney that sold beauty and bath products, Basin! After researching the brand further and telling my doctor about it, I found a winner! All Basin products are chemical free. They have "no paragons, alcohol, mineral oils, and are not tested on animals and are made in the USA." 

The best part? I was able to get 15% off my entire purchase because B had gotten us annual passes to Disney for Christmas! Sadly though, I can only get this discount if I purchase my products at the Basin located in Downtown Disney. But, this just adds another reason to go to Disney!

I absolutely love both of these! I keep the lotion at my desk as a constant reminder to moisturize! Plenty of lotions have gone to waste because of the whole "out of sight, out of mind" dilemma. I keep the soap in our bathroom so B and I both use it! I love that the soap is a cleanser and a moisturizer in one! 

Good Hair Day Shampoo Bar: $7.99

Good Hair Day Conditioner Bar: $7.99

Basin had a deal going on, "Shampoo & Conditioner Bar Barrel", where you could mix and match four  shampoo and conditioner bars for $25. That's a savings of $6.96, which is almost the price of one bar! So I picked up two of each of the Good Hair Day bars. Each bar is supposed to last between 50 and 75 washes.

For the toner and the lotion, I got the type for Dry to Normal skin. I do have combination skin, but lately my skin has been slightly dry.

Black Oak Shaving Cream: $17.99

The snowy soap is part of their holiday collection. I guess it's only sold in-store. I actually bought the caffeine soap for B. I thought it would help him wake up in the mornings. I bought two of the Queen For A Day soaps! They smell so good and leave my skin feeling clean and soft! Now I know that this particular shaving cream is meant for a man, for his face, but I love it! It smells beyond amazing and my legs are so silky and smooth afterwards! 

Blush Solid Perfume: $9.99

I'm obsessed with this solid perfume! My biggest love about it? It's super travel friendly! You don;t have to worry about it leaking or breaking! I smelled all of the solid perfumes and this Blush scent was by far my favorite!
