Surprise! Tasty Tuesday has gone on a Cinco de Mayo cooking spree! Not really, but I did manage to cook up 3 different recipes that are perfect for any kind of party! And with Cinco de Mayo right around the corner, it's time to get cooking! These recipes are meant to be paired with the drinks I made for Thirsty Thursday so stay tuned for that post too!

Recipe: Special Holiday Sugar Cookies

I love cookies, and so does Briam. I wanted to make a holiday treat that was fun, flavorful, and easy to make. I found this recipe from Alton Brown and altered it just a little bit to my liking and how I wanted to make the cookies. To see how to make your own holiday sugar cookies, keep reading! What You'll Need:

3 C All Purpose Flour, 3/4 tsp Baking Powder, and 1/4 tsp Salt 

1 C Unsalted Butter (softened), 1 C Sugar, 1 Egg (beaten), 1 tbsp Milk for dough and 6 tbsp for icing, 3 C Powdered Sugar for icing

Extracts: Mint, Cinnamon, and Raspberry. Food Coloring: Green, Red, and Blue

Holiday Cookie Cutters

Directions:

Sift together the flour , baking powder, and salt. Set Aside. 

Mix butter and sugar until mixed thoroughly and looks like the picture below 

Ta Da! 

Add the egg (I forgot to beat mine, still did just fine) and 1 tbsp of milk. Beat again. 

Add the flour mixture to your butter mixture and beat until it becomes a solid dough. Separate  into 3 different bowls.  

Add 1 tbsp of food coloring and extract to each respective dough bowls and mix together. Roll them in plastic wrap and let set in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.  

Bake your cookies at 375 degrees for 7-9 minutes. They should be slightly brown around the edges.

Some of mine had too much fun in the oven...  

To make the icing: Combine 3 C Powdered Sugar with 6 tbsp of Milk. I t will look and taste like what goes on a cinnamon bun.

Let the icing harden for about 1 hour and plate your cookies! Yummy!

DIY: Ornament Wreath

I love holiday decorations. I don't have a house of my own that I can decorate yet, but that doesn't mean that I can't dazzle up the inside of my little office! I was at Target the other day with Briam and I saw these beautiful ornament wreaths. The were so magnificent and shiny, but so darn expensive! The were upwards of $20-$30 and although that's a good price for someone else making it for me, I knew I could make it cheaper. I went to the dollar store and picked up the ornaments and ribbon for less than $9. I stole the hanger out of Briam's closet and I had pliers and the command hook on hand. 

What You'll Need:

70-80 Ornaments  

Wired Ribbon

Needle Nose Pliers

Wired Hanger

Splurge and Save

For this splurge and save post, I wanted to give you a simple look that you could wear for Easter! Being that it's spring as well, I wanted to create a look that gave off a fresh vibe! The splurge look costs almost $1000. That is crazy! Granted these looks will work great for Easter, spring, and all summer, but that's just too much! The save look barely tops $100. Now that's much better!

How to Wear: Green Skinny Jeans

Continuing with my St.Patty's Day inspired posts, I've put together three fabulous ways to wear green skinny jeans, all with different shades of green, of course! From causal to date night, I've covered all your options for a night out on St.Patty's Day! Which by the way, can someone please tell me if it's "St. Patty's" or "St.Paddy's" day? Someone tweeted me last night correcting my use of St.Patty's Day. I was raised using that abbreviation, so maybe my childhood was wrong. Oh well.
